Obama artist busted — again
The artist whose iconic portrait of President Barack Obama has made him famous has been busted in Boston for graffiti.
Shepard Fairey was arrested Friday night, The Boston Globe reported. Police picked him up just before he was to be the guest DJ at
Experiment Night, an event launching an exhibit of his work at the Institute of Contemporary Art.
Fairey has boasted of his many arrests, including one during the Democratic National Convention in Denver. He is also involved in a dispute with the Associated Press, which claims he violated copyright with his picture of Obama, which reportedly used an AP photograph as its foundation.
The Obama portrait ended up on posters, T-shirts and coffee mugs and is now in the National Portrait Gallery.
