Biking Bush Collides With Police Officer
U.S. President George W. Bush, an avid bicyclist, collided with a Scottish police officer Wednesday while riding at the site of the G8 summit.
The 59-year-old president suffered a few scrapes and bruises on his arms and legs that required bandages, but otherwise was unhurt.
The officer, part of a police security detail, may have suffered an ankle injury and was taken to a hospital for examination.
The accident was not witnessed by reporters and was not the first time Bush has had a cycling spill.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said it was raining lightly at the time of the accident at the Gleneagles golf resort. He said the president was traveling at a pretty good speed but the fall would not alter the summit schedule, Ireland Online reported.
Bush attended a dinner where Queen Elizabeth was to be the host.
