Ex-Chief Says London Bombing Done By Brits
July 10, 2005
The London bombings were carried out by British-born or British-based attackers a former London police chief tells the BBC.
Ex-Police Commissioner Lord Stevens says blaming foreign attackers for Thursday’s bombing of London’s subway and bus system is wishful thinking.
Stevens says about 3,000 British-born or based individuals have been trained by al-Qaida and that authorities believe they were responsible.
A total of 49 people have been confirmed dead, although none have been identified because of the severity of the blasts. At least 25 people are list as missing.
Authorities now say the high-tech bombs went off within seconds of each other, which may mean they were triggered by timing devices.
