DeLay: Strong Security Policies Will Aid War on Terror; Calls on Democrats to Reject Weak Stance on Security Legislation

WASHINGTON, July 18 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) today called on Congressional Democrats to reject House Democrat leadership's obstructionism and unite with Republicans this week to support strong security legislation to protect the American people.
"Four years after the attacks of September 11th, too many Democrat leaders still don't get it. Despite indiscriminate terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, Iraq, Madrid, and London, they believe the true victims in the war on terror are the killers being held at Guantanamo Bay.
"Our homeland security infrastructure has protected our nation for four years, but that doesn't change the fact that we are still at war. Democrats must come to their senses and reject the weak and indecisive foreign policy advocated by their party's leadership that is unable to protect the American people in a post-9/11 world.
"This week, Congress will vote to extend the USA PATRIOT Act that is vital to our victory in the war on terror. I call on all Democrats still adhering to a 'September 10th' foreign policy to join Republicans and unite behind this crucial legislation to prevent terror, hunt down our enemies, and win the war.
"House Republicans will continue to promote a strong, comprehensive national security policy that keeps Americans safe, keeps the terrorists on the run, and keeps our party's promise to every citizen that we will provide solutions to address the challenges facing our nation."
