Bush's approval rating on Iraq issue hits new low: poll WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- US President George W. Bush's approval rating on how he handles the Iraq problem dropped further to 38 percent, the lowest point in recent months, according to a latest survey. The poll of 1,000 US adults nationwide, conducted by international polling agency Ipsos between August 1 and 3, also found fewer than half of those interviewed trust the president's honesty

. Approval rating of Bush's handling of the Iraq problem had been hovering between 40 and 45 percent in most of the year and now dropped further to a 38 percent new low. The latest poll also showed that the percentage of people who trust Bush's honesty has dropped from 53 percent last month to 48 percent. Poll experts said the honesty dip is partly caused by his diminishing credibility on the Iraq issue, even though he on Thursday pledged to complete the "job in Iraq" at his ranch in Crawford, Texas. Bush's overall job approval remained at 42 percent, unchanged in recent months, the poll suggested. The survey also found 60 percent of those interviewed said they think the country is going down the wrong track. Analysts said aside from dragging down Bush's approval rating, the Iraq problem will also have a major impact on the results of the midterm congressional election next year.
