NitroDesk Announces Version 7 of TouchDown
The Wait is Over – Version 7 of TouchDown is Now Available
Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) August 16, 2011
NitroDesk, the makers of TouchDown, the number one Microsoft® Exchange server synchronization solution for Android-powered devices, announce Version 7 of TouchDown. The latest version builds upon the previous releases by adding several new capabilities to the existing product. Among the new features are enhanced corporate configuration, optimized quick access views, enhanced contacts views, easier calendar navigation, quick access to tasks and notes and a new user interface for tablets. The new version sports lower battery utilization as well as some important reliability fixes and better draft email handling. Version 7 also brings resizable and scrollable widgets to the tablet version of TouchDown when run on a device that runs Honeycomb 3.1 or later.
The new enterprise corporate configuration allows administrators to set security policies and default application preferences for TouchDown when users connect to a Microsoft Exchange server. Administrators can control how TouchDown performs when connected to the server by creating a special configuration file on the Internet Information Services (IIS) server that hosts Microsoft ActiveSync®.
The new version of TouchDown supports sending and receiving S/MIME signed and encrypted emails, enabling authentication, non-repudiation and data tampering prevention. An optional PIN can now be set for S/MIME certificates, preventing the potential for unauthorized use of the certificates.
The new version includes a new and improved user interface for tablets. With this comes an improved master and detail screen, better navigability in calendar screens. This creates an overall better experience for tablet users.
Another new feature in the latest version of TouchDown is the user interface changes on a smartphone main screen. This includes support for separate text and HTML signatures. Users can now have more customizability with contacts, calendar, notes and tasks and have the changes updated on the server as in previous version.
TouchDown requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 or later to be running in the organization, with any one of three protocols (ActiveSync, Exchange Web Services or Exchange WebDAV) available and exposed over the internet.
Pricing and Availability
NitroDesk TouchDown is priced at USD 19.99 and is available for download and purchase directly on the device from Android Market. Enterprise and volume-license customers and MDM partners should contact sales(at)nitrodesk(dot)com for additional pricing options.
