Cooper Plans to Testify in Libby Trial

Time magazine reporter Matt Cooper says he was surprised to be mentioned in I. Lewis Libby’s indictment in the CIA leak case.

Cooper said it appears Libby’s recollection of their conversation about former Ambassador Joseph Wilson’s wife differed from his in a way that led the prosecutor to think Libby was lying.

I still have no idea if Libby or anyone else has committed a crime, said Cooper in an article in Time. I only know that if there is a Libby trial, I’ll testify truthfully and completely, as I did before the grand jury.

Cooper said he told the grand jury he asked Libby if he had heard anything about Wilson’s wife having been involved in sending him to Niger.

Libby responded with words to the effect of, ‘Yeah, I’ve heard that too,’ said Cooper.
