The Democratic National Committee announced Friday the party's four-day convention in 2008 will be Aug. 25-28.
DNC Chairman Howard Dean said the late August dates will allow the party to have the event after the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
I look forward to joining with Democrats from across the country August 25-28, as we gather to formally nominate our 2008 Presidential ticket, he said in a prepared statement.
A location for the event has yet to be selected but both major political parties are reportedly considering New Orleans as a host city.
