Family Research Council Initiates Ad Buys in SD, AR, and LA to Fire Up Grassroots on Alito, Encourage Senators to Vote on Qualifications

WASHINGTON, Jan. 25 /U.S. Newswire/ — In preparation for a Senate vote on Judge Samuel Alito, the Family Research Council has launched several ad buys encouraging state leaders in South Dakota, Arkansas and Louisiana to vote based on Alito’s qualifications, not on agenda.

Each of the senators targeted by the ads were open minded during Judge Roberts’ confirmation vote and FRC expects the same for Judge Alito.

South Dakota — FRC placed print ads in the Argus Leader and Pierre Capital Journal addressing South Dakota Sen. Tim Johnson.

The ad urges his constituents to call Sen. Johnson and “ask him to stop Ted Kennedy and other liberals in Washington from forcing their extreme agenda on South Dakota by supporting the nomination of an experienced and well qualified nominee for the Supreme Court.”

The ads will run Jan. 25 and 26 and can be downloaded from http:/ /www.frc.org.

Arkansas — Radio ads on 52 stations in Arkansas will begin running Wednesday, Jan. 25 and continue through Friday, Jan. 27. The ad focuses on Sens. Lincoln and Pryor who are both considered key votes on the confirmation of Judge Alito.

Louisiana — Radio ads will air on 15 stations in Louisiana all this week addressing Sen. Mary Landreau.

The ad, recorded by FRC President Tony Perkins states, “Seventy- six percent of Americans support the posting of the 10 Commandments on public property. Eighty-two percent believe prayer should be allowed at public school graduations and ninety percent say the phrase ‘Under God’ should remain in our Pledge of Allegience. With such overwhelming support why is there such a fight on these issues?”
