Giuliani: Confederate Flag is State Issue
April 11, 2007
The federal government should not decide whether a state can fly the Confederate flag over its capitol, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said.
The decision should be left to individual states, Giuliani said Tuesday in Montgomery after addressing the Alabama Legislature.
We have different sensitivities and at different times we’re going to come to different decisions, and I think that is best left to the states, Giuliani said during his presidential campaign swing through the South.
He said that if elected he would cut taxes, reduce government and continue a strong effort to defend America against terrorism.
