Angry Birds Game Reaches 500 Million Downloads

Rovio said its popular mobile game Angry Birds has surpassed 500 million downloads, making it the most downloaded game in the history of gaming.

Rovio said its users average about 300 million minutes of playing time daily, which adds up to about 200,000 years of playing Angry Birds.

The company said over 266 billion levels of Angry Birds have been played and 400 billion birds have been catapulted.

"This is a fantastic landmark achievement for us, and we're extremely delighted to see such an incredible amount of people enjoying our games," Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, said in a press release. "We remain committed to creating more fun experiences and bringing exceptional quality to Angry Birds Fans everywhere."

Angry Birds is available on all major smartphones, including Google Android devices and Apple's iOS devices.

Rovio said along with the announcement that it will be opening its first retail store in Helsinki.  The company has also recently launched its first Angry Birds print book.
