Wii battery recharge stations recalled
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Wii 4-dock battery recharge stations due to a fire hazard.
About 220,000 Psyclone Essentials and React Wii recharging stations were imported from China by Griffin International Cos. Inc. of Minneapolis, Minn., and sold at Target and Best Buy stores from January 2008 through July 2009 for about $50 each.
The company has received six reports of overheating units. Two reports involved consumers who were burned, the commission said.
The recall involves Psyclone model No. PSE6501 and React model No. RT530. The numbers can be found on the battery station’s bottom side.
Consumers were advised to stop using the recharge stations and contact Griffin International for a free replacement.
