1 Million Move Controllers Sold So Far

One million units of Move, the motion-based video game controller for the PlayStation 3, have been sold in the first month on the market in the Americas, according to Sony Corporation.

Jack Tretton, president and chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, said the strong demand for the new Move controller is easily over-running the supply, and Sony does not expect it will have enough supply on hand to make it to February.

Production had to be increased twice and "we're absolutely maxed out right now," Tretton told Reuters.

The Move was launched by Sony for the PS3 video game console on September 19 in the United States. It carries a price tag of $39.99 for the camera and $49.99 for the motion controller wand.

Move has just launched in Japan, and Sony said it has sold more than 1.5 million units in Europe. In the Americas, Move is available in more than 30,000 retail outlets.
