World Of Warcraft Players Losing Interest?

Activision Blizzard told analysts during a conference call that the number of subscribers had fallen for the second consecutive quarter, according to The Telegraph.

The game still has over 11 million players, but a million have stopped playing in the last nine months.

Chief executive of Blizzard, Mike Morhaime, said the fall in numbers was mainly due to many players being good enough to complete new content quickly, reducing their playing time.

He said a new content update would tempt many players back to the game later this year.

World of Warcraft launched in 2004 and has been the most popular MMORPG.

Activision Blizzard has changed the way the game works by making it free for new players up to level 20 of the game.  New players were originally given a 14-day trial period.

The company announced a new patch for the game last month called Rage of the Firelands that added new quests for players to complete and offered a new user interface.
