Sony Corp's top PlayStation executive announced on Wednesday that sales of the popular PlayStation 3 video game console have spiked in the last few weeks after a $100 price cut was tagged to the device last month.

According to several technology blogs, Nintendo Co Ltd may be slashing the price of its Wii video game console to $200, starting this weekend.

A Microsoft executive said on Thursday that it has no plans to buy Electronic Arts, denying any talk of a potential bid that triggered a spike in the video game publisher's shares.
