Small Fire Near Catalina Highway Believed to Be Caused By Lightning
By The Arizona Daily Star, Tucson
Jul. 16–A wildfire has burned about three acres near the Gordon Hirabayashi campgrounds in the Santa Catalina Mountains this afternoon, a Coronado National Forest official said.
But officials are confident that the blaze, about two miles northeast of the campgrounds in the forest, will be contained naturally from expected rainfall this evening.
The blaze is believed to be caused by lightning, said Rachael Hohl, a forest spokeswoman. It is currently burning in grasslands, another official said.
The fire began about 1:30 p.m., Hohl said.
