The Land Policy Institute (LPI) at Michigan State University (MSU) has marked its first anniversary by launching a newly renovated website at www.landpolicy.msu.edu. LPI does strategic research that informs the policy debate on how land is used and that identifies sustainable actions metro and rural regions can take to reposition themselves for prosperity in the New Economy.
LPI resources policy makers at the federal, state, and local level with science-based tools and solutions that help build a better quality of life, strengthen the economy, and protect the environment in ways that are fair to all. It democratizes research results, making it accessible to all of Michigan's land use stakeholders. In everything, LPI considers economic, social, and environmental issues.
Marshalling the breadth of MSU's capacity for research and education, LPI encourages collaboration among land use researchers, policy makers, and community organizations, and engages scientists from MSU, other universities in Michigan, and universities across the nation and the world to develop land use strategies and policy tools based on the principles of strategic growth.
"Helping to Shape Michigan's Future: The First Report," a comprehensive overview of LPI's first three years, is showcased under "Hot Topics" on the LPI website home page at www.landpolicy.msu.edu. Copies can be downloaded free of charge.
