July 26, 2007
ANNACIS ISLAND, B.C. (CP) – A Coquitlam man has died following a fiery explosion at a manufacturing plant in Delta, B.C.
The blast tore through the Chemcraft Sadolin plant on Annacis Island early Tuesday morning, leaving the 53-year-old worker with severe burns and blast injuries.
Delta Police say the man, whose name has not been released, died yesterday.
Five other people who were also injured are recovering at home.
Paint and chemical solutions are mixed at the plant, and investigators believe one of those processes caused the blast that sent a fireball through the building and blew out one wall.
Delta police, the Delta fire department and WorkSafeBC are still trying to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
