Attorney Robert Weiss and Parents Demand Answers From Manufacturers of Plastic Baby Bottles

Tomorrow in Alexandria, Virginia parents will go before the NIH in an effort to get dangerous chemicals removed from the production of plastic baby bottles.
The top six plastic bottle manufacturers will be in the hot seat as a panel of scientific and environmental experts announce a consensus about the risk of Bisphenol-A ("BPA") to human health and reproduction.
In a new report published in Environmental Health Perspectives, researchers found that BPA exposure may interfere with the development of normal sex differences in cognitive function. In particular, BPA contamination could have long-term effects on children's learning potential.
With parents up in arms all around the world fearing for the safety of their children, public interest is heating up. Evidence shows that when certain plastics are heated toxic chemicals are released into the liquid. This is a debate going strong in the media but as the plastic manufacturers defend their product, RightsforAmerica.com can produce hundreds of scientific and medical documents which show the effects BPA has had on children across the United States.
"BPA mimics estrogen when broken down and we have adolescent boys whose penises are deformed and toddler girls with lumps of plastic in their breast," says attorney Robert Weiss, attorney with RightsforAmerica.com.
"There are tests on 4,000 children which show traces of BPA in their urine and blood," Weiss added.
Weiss, a seasoned mass torts litigation attorney, filed a billion dollar class action suit at the Los Angeles Superior Court against six leading manufacturers of baby bottles on behalf of the babies of California, who may have been injured by drinking out of plastic bottles and toddler sippy cups that contain BPA.
The suit has been filed against the leading baby bottle manufacturers: Avent America, Evenflo, Gerber, Playtex, Dr. Brown's and Nalgene. These baby products manufacturers currently use BPA in the production of many of their plastic baby bottles and toddler sippy cups.
"The top baby bottle manufacturers continue to use BPA when all the evidence is clear that it is dangerous to children. We are just beginning to see the side effects of this. God help us all in 20 years when these kids try to have babies. No one knows the long term damage," Weiss added.
BPA is a high production volume chemical used in the production of polycarbonate plastic and several types of resins. Polycarbonate plastics are widely used in a variety of products including food and drink containers, CDs, DVDs, electrical and electronic equipment, automobiles, sports safety equipment. Resins are used as a protective lining in metal food and drink containers and water supply pipes. In vitro and animal data indicate that BPA may mimic the natural female sex hormone, estradiol, and exposure to BPA is known to cause neurological and hormonal damage to lab animals.
