MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pavilion Nostalgia Park, Myrtle Beach's newest amusement park located at the 350-acre Broadway at the Beach shopping, dining and entertainment complex, recently celebrated its official grand opening. Owned and operated by Burroughs & Chapin Company, the park offers nine classic rides and an abundance of artifacts from the company's former Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park, which celebrated its farewell season in 2006.
The Pavilion Nostalgia Park's design recalls the atmosphere of the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park, which served as the recreation focal point for Myrtle Beach residents and visitors for 58 years. Landmarks such as the Pavilion's Herschell-Spillman Carousel, which dates back to 1912 and debuted in Myrtle Beach in 1950, and the historic hand-carved German Baden Band Organ are featured at The Pavilion Nostalgia Park.
Popular rides brought to The Pavilion Nostalgia Park from the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park include the Tea Cup Ride, Motorcycle Ride, Dune Buggy Ride, Kiddie Pirate Ship, Boat Ride, Caterpillar Ride, Adult Pirate Ship, and Wave Swinger. Arcade games are located within the Nostalgia Park and traditional games like the milk can toss line the Park's midway. Favorite carnival foods like funnel cakes and corn dogs are served. A retail store is also available as well as an on-site museum that house artifacts from the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park.
"The Pavilion Nostalgia Park's grand opening launched a new era in Myrtle Beach family fun," said Tim Ruedy, vice president of operations for Burroughs & Chapin Company's sports, entertainment and recreation group. "Burroughs & Chapin's leadership wanted to provide guests with the opportunity to recall the unique atmosphere that was part of the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park's appeal, while also enjoying the new Park's variety of thrilling rides, all of which are set within the unique shopping, dining and entertainment district that is Broadway at the Beach."
The Pavilion Nostalgia Park is a year-round family attraction located on the east end of Broadway at the Beach near the Carmike Theaters, Hampton Inn and Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Cafe.
