Silesian Farmers Set to Receive 350m Euros From EU Funds – Polish Agency

Koszecin, 27 August: Silesian farmers, communes and self- government institutions will receive some 350m euro in the coming seven years as part of the rural areas development programme implemented in the region.

Participants in the Harvest Festival in Silesia received message from President Lech Kaczynski which was read out by minister in his chancellery Michal Kaminski. According to Kaminski the Polish agriculture changed after the country joined the EU but farmers did not lose their roots and proved they can manage in the unified EU.

Member of the board of Silesia province Marian Ormaniec said that since 2004 economic entities and communes submitted 1,720 motions worth 273m zloty (96.8m USD) of which some 54m zloty was assigned for land consolidation, village overhaul, the protection of national heritage and water management.

By 2013 some 350m euro will be assigned for water and sewage system management, the system of communal waste collection, segregation and removal as well as power-generating from renewable sources.
