Security talk planned: The Green Party of Rhode Island will convene a free community roundtable titled “21st Century Security” on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the rotunda of the Community College of Rhode Island, One Hilton St., Providence.
A panel of 15 community leaders will discuss a new approach to security. Panelists include Dr. Richard Lobban, chairman of the department of anthropology at Rhode Island College and an adjunct professor at the Naval War College; Katherine Brown, executive director of the Southside Community Land Trust; Teny Gross, executive director of the Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence; Brad Hyson, executive director of the Apeiron Institute for Sustainable Living; and Greg Gerritt, founder of the Rhode Island Prosperity Project.
Girl Scouts registration: Girl Scouts of Rhode Island will host registration events throughout the region beginning Tuesday and continuing through Sept. 30.
Placement is for new Scouts only and is on a first-come, first- serve basis. Registration fees are $25.
