MSE Enviro-Tech Corp.’s AF21 Fire Inhibitor Passes Requirements of New U.S. National Flammability Standard for Mattresses

September 12, 2007

MSE Enviro-Tech Corp. (PINKSHEETS: MEVT) is pleased to announce that Hartindo AF21 supplier Megola Inc. has reported excellent results in a recent test carried out at SGS U.S. Testing Company’s Consumer Services Division in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As the U.S. Sales & Distribution agent for the entire line of Hartindo products, including AF21, MSE Enviro-Tech is extremely pleased that another independent test of the effectiveness of AF21 provides yet another opportunity to aggressively pursue identified opportunities in the very large U.S. mattress market.

MATTRESS BURN TEST RESULTS

The AF21-treated mattress was tested in accordance with 16 CFR 1633, Test Procedure for Resistance of a Mattress to a Large Open Flame, and passed the requirements of the new U.S. national flammability standard for mattresses, which took effect on July 1, 2007. All mattresses and mattress sets manufactured, imported or renovated on or after this date must comply with this standard.

Commenting on the results of the test, supplier Megola Inc.’s Environmental Scientist, Michael Gardner noted, “We are very pleased with the performance of AF21 under these very stringent test procedures. The impressively low peak heat release rate of 32 kW ( well below the allowable rate of 200 kW) is indicative of the effectiveness of AF21 in preventing a full scale fire from developing, even when it involves the highly flammable materials found in most mattresses. Furthermore, considering that mattresses are often reported as being major contributors to deadly flashover conditions, which are commonly cited as occurring around or above 900 degreesF, the low ceiling temperature of less than 175 degreesF measured during this test is very relevant as it shows that a mattress treated with AF21 will not become a substantial contributor to flashover in a fire situation. And in addition to its obvious fire inhibiting abilities, perhaps the most important fact is that AF21 is non-toxic, which is in stark contrast to some of the potentially toxic fire retardants currently being used to meet this new standard.”

Hartindo AF21 Fire Inhibitor

Hartindo AF21 is a 100% effective, colorless, water-based, non-toxic, non-corrosive and environmentally friendly fire inhibitor. All natural materials protected with AF21 will char (carbonize) when subjected to high heat, but they will not ignite, burn or spread flame. Thermal transfer is also greatly reduced.

AF21 can be applied to any natural, water-absorbent material, and many synthetic materials, to provide consumers with total peace of mind that the products they purchase will protect their family and their property in the event of a fire. Unlike many current fire retardant solutions, which only delay the start of fires, Hartindo AF21 is a total fire inhibitor, rendering all water absorbent and many synthetic materials non-flammable. MSE Enviro-Tech had high expectations for AF21 when the distribution rights were acquired and based on the test results received so far, these expectations have clearly been reinforced.

Enormous Market Potential

Fire safety standards and regulations for mattresses and upholstered furniture are becoming increasingly stringent, opening up enormous markets for MSE Enviro-Tech’s effective, environmentally friendly, non-PBDE-containing Hartindo AF21 flame inhibitor. Mattress fires reportedly claim more than 400 American lives each year! Mattress Industry data shows that shipments during 2007 will amount to nearly 35 million mattresses worth an estimated $9.6 Billion dollars at the wholesale level. Sales of upholstered household furniture more than doubles that figure!

“Given its superior anti-fire capabilities and nontoxic, environmentally friendly characteristics, we believe AF21′s market potential as a fire inhibitor for mattresses and a wide array of other household furnishings is immense. MSE Enviro-Tech intends to aggressively pursue market share in lock-step with additional product testing to be carried out by supplier Megola Inc. and major end-user manufacturers.”
