BUTTERY: House Democrats voted Wednesday to limit popcorn plant workers’ exposure to diacetyl, a flavoring chemical linked to a lung ailment.
LUNG PROBLEM: The legislation gives the Occupational Safety and Health Administration three months to tell industries using diacetyl as a flavoring to limit exposure.
OPPOSITION: The Bush administration and House Republicans think the Democrats’ bill is premature.
