Milton Farber, president of Space Sciences, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for excellence in the field of scientific research and development. Farber, the Cambridge Who's Who 2007 Professional of the Year in physical chemistry, has continually achieved breakthroughs in the application of physics to macroscopic, microscopic, atomic, subatomic, and particulate phenomena in chemical systems during his 65 years of professional experience.
Farber began his professional career in 1942 as a researcher at the Manhattan Project's uranium-enrichment facilities at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. From 1946 to 1956, Farber conducted research on rocket propellants at the California Institute of Technology's jet propulsion lab and continued this research with Aerojet and Hughes Aircrafts until 1957. Later that year, Farber joined forces with electrical utilities to reduce air pollution and improve transformer life. Farber formed Space Sciences, Inc. as a corporation for research and development of rocket propellants for the United States Department of Defense.
Additionally, Farber is a gifted professional public speaker on the national and international level and the author of more than 150 articles. He wrote the "Effect of Gravitational Field on the Thermal Diffusion Separation Method" with W.F. Libby, published in the Journal of Chemical Physics in December 1940 and "The Vaporization of Graphite Filament" with A.J. Darnell, published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society in 1952. Farber holds two United States patents. He is the inventor of a gas chromatograph that measures fault gases contained in the gas within a headspace above the electrical insulating oil supply contained in a power transformer.
Farber received his Ph.D. from California Western University. He earned his masters degree in chemical engineering and chemistry from the University of Minnesota and his bachelors degree in chemistry from the University of California. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Physical Society and Industrial Chemicals Inc.
