New York Vandals Using Frozen Paint Balls
Residents of Suffolk County, N.Y., fear for their property and their own safety after area vandals began using frozen paint balls, police said.
While several area homes were damaged by paint ball-wielding vandals last Halloween, police have said this upcoming holiday holds an additional threat since local vandals began freezing the paint-filled projectiles, Newsday reported Wednesday.
A technician at Island Paintball Supplies said freezing the paint ball could make them as hard as a marble and a potential risk to area residents and property.
Frozen paint balls are an irresponsible and dangerous thing, said Anthony Pennino, who owns the Suffolk County store. They could easily break a window, or worse, take out an eye.
Pennino told the Long Island newspaper that he stops selling the necessary equipment for such illegal acts during the weeks leading up to Halloween.
A few years ago, I noticed our paint sales were up around Halloween, around the same time vandalism became popular, he said. So whenever Halloween comes around, we know it’s time to start using our judgment when it comes to selling paint balls.
