New Award for Corrosion Innovation of the Year Announced

Materials Performance (MP) magazine, a publication of NACE International, The Corrosion Society, announces its inaugural Readersâ Choice award highlighting the most important innovations impacting corrosion control. The top 10 corrosion innovations for 2012 will be selected by MP readers through online voting, and award winners will be announced and featured in a Product Showcase at NACE Internationalâs annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, March 11-15, 2012. The top innovations also will be featured in MP.

The top 10 corrosion innovations for 2012 will be selected by MP readers through online voting, and award winners will be announced and featured in a Product Showcase at NACE Internationalâs annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, March 11-15, 2012. Corrosion is a global problem that has plagued buildings, monuments, equipment, and infrastructure for centuries. Every day scientists, researchers, chemists, engineers, and other professionals create revolutionary solutions to combat corrosion and protect vital assets from the damaging effects of corrosion-related deterioration and failure. The MP Readersâ Choice Corrosion Innovation of the Year Award will recognize the innovations and innovators who strive to protect people, assets, and the environment from the effects of corrosion.

Award entries will be accepted from individuals, companies, organizations, and government agencies worldwide. The innovations nominated should be technologies that have resulted in significant improvements to current products, services, methods, and techniques such as groundbreaking advances in coatings and linings, cathodic protection, materials selection and design, instrumentation, testing, integrity assessment, chemical treatments, and other practices directly related to corrosion prevention and mitigation in all industries.

Details on the award program, including nomination guidelines, will be available on the NACE International Web site on Monday, September 19, 2011 at http://www.nace.org/MPReadersChoice. The deadline for nomination submissions is Friday, November 18, 2011.

NACE International, The Corrosion Society, based in Houston, Texas, has 27,000 members in 110 countries. It is recognized worldwide as the largest professional association dedicated to protecting people, assets, and the environment from the impact of corrosion. It was founded in 1943, and offers technical training and certification programs, conferences, industry standards, reports, publications, and software to prevent and mitigate corrosion.
