This upgrade delivers improved performance, scalability, efficiency and value over prior offerings while maintaining platform consistency that scales for memory- and compute-intensive HPC workloads. The next generation Appro server platforms based on the AMD Opteron 6200 Series processor are projected to be available in Q4/2011 and early Q1 2012. Also, Appro will be demonstrating its next generation AMD Opteron based servers and supercomputers at SC11 booth # 2312, November 14-17.
The new AMD Opteron-based Appro servers will feature 8-, 12- and 16- core-density offering 160 percent more cores than current generation servers for handling more threads per node. It offers four channels of DDR3 memory with the support of additional Northbridge enhancements for 73 percent more memory throughput to scale as workloads grow. The new upgraded Appro server platforms will take advantage of AMDÃ¢s innovative Flex FP design that brings 256-bit floating point processing to the mainstream with more throughput for both 128-bit and 256-bit technical applications. Also, the new AMD Opteron processors offer Turbo CORE technology allowing the Ã¢Å“BulldozerÃ¢ cores to boost performance up to 500MHz simultaneously. In addition, the new Appro server platforms can help companies get more out of their IT investment by maintaining server platform consistency from the entry-level to advanced HPC mission critical applications, enabling drop-in upgradeability for the next-generation AMD core.
