Big Story Weather News from April 30: Over the past 24 hrs, the majority of the significant weather has taken place in the Southern Plains. Reports of tornadoes stretched from Kansas and Oklahoma. Also reports of hail the size of baseball in Oklahoma. Many places in this region also are dealing with the aftermath of heavy rain from the yesterday’s storms.
Big Story Weather News for May 1: Low pressure will begin to move up the East Coast later today – bringing with it showers and thunderstorms to the Carolina´s and Virginia. A weak area of high pressure in the Southern Gulf of Mexico will create partly cloudy skies along the Gulf Coast today. A stronger low pressure system will move through the Northern Plains today bringing with it the chance of thunderstorms to places from Nebraska and northward. Also these storms have the potential to be severe. High pressure over the Central Rockies will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies to the region. The Pacific Northwest will have showers along the coast and higher elevation snows in the Cascades.
Big Story Weather Outlook International: High pressure to the east of Japan will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies to the region. Look for a developing low pressure system to influence the weather along the Eastern shores of China bringing showers to the region. High pressure again will be in control of the weather over the Middle East leading to another warm day. Low pressure just south of England will bring rain showers to France and Spain today. A very strong low pressure system is moving just south of South America and will bring strong gusty winds to the tip of the region today. High pressure will influence Australia leading to a nice day across the region.
