Big Story Weather from May 3, 2012: The Northern Plains again took the hit from the severe weather as tornadoes were reported in Iowa. The Northern Plains saw large hail and damaging winds as well.

Big Story Weather for May 4: High pressure east of Florida will bring wrap-around moisture along with a trough into the panhandle today. Expect to see showers and thunderstorms throughout this region. The northeast will be dealing with a passing frontal boundary which will bring showers to the region. Another day of big weather in the Northern Plains as the low pressure center sits over Kansas providing the significant weather to the north look for thunderstorms to develop in that region as the day goes on. Out west we are still dealing with the mountain snows and coastal rain showers from Seattle to Portland.

Big Story Weather Outlook International: Low pressure continues to move through Northern Japan bringing with it strong winds and heavy rain to places like Sapporo. High pressure will continue to influence the weather throughout the Middle East with dry and warm conditions. A weak low pressure continues to drape across Europe bringing showers and moderate winds to the region of Spain and France. High pressure influences Eastern Australia while a new developing low pressure system will begin to influence the weather along the Western side of Australia today with showers and increasing winds.

Tropics are quiet all across the regions from the Atlantic over into the Pacific and also around Australia.
