The Squatty Potty is no ordinary bathroom utility.
In fact, the stool lauded “perfect for pooping” was recently featured on a major national television health show for its simplicity and efficiency in helping those looking for a better bathroom experience.
Created in the home garage of Bill and Judy Edwards, the idea for the worlds No.1 stool for going No. 2 was born out of necessity, and a little love, too.
In May 2010, Judy Edwards set out to improve her health and was encouraged to assume the natural squatting position to defecate. To do this, it was recommend that she elevate her feet while sitting at the toilet.
“I´d never heard of such a thing,” she remembers thinking. So, inquisitively, she set out to research the idea. And the more she read, the more she realized that squatting is a safe, natural, easy and affordable solution to giving her desired relief from lifelong constipation issues.
Gathering boxes and stacking phone books to serve as platforms, Judy found the benefits to elevating her feet to eliminate were immediate, but she didn’t like the clutter. Neither did Bill, her husband.
That´s when they solicited the help of their son Bobby to design a stool that would store discretely under the toilet. As he set out to create the perfect stool for his mom, Bobby realized that many medical professionals encourage squatting and suggest an optimum angle for colon alignment.
The Edwards consulted with doctors and nurses, alignment specialists, and natural health experts and came up with what they call “the perfect toilet stool” for mom, and a solution they wanted to share with others. Within weeks of launching The Squatty Potty commercially, orders were being filled to customers throughout the nation.
“This is a subject people do not like to talk about, but it is something everyone has a connection to,” says Judy. “We are finding that customers of all ages are becoming attached to the experiences they are having with The Squatty Potty. It just makes sense!”
Today, two years after the Edwards family journey began, The Squatty Potty product line includes three popular models including the Original Squatty Potty, the economical Plastic Stool, and the new Bamboo Stool. Manufacturing stools nonstop, the Edwards family is now shipping between 600-700 per month.
