Natural Sciences Repository Publishes Chromatography and Acidic Compounds Resources

June 26, 2012

The novel Natural Sciences Repository aims to provide reliable information on various areas of scientific interest and presents it’s content in the simplest words and terms possible. The site has now added the categories Chromatography and Compounds to it’s Acid section. While chromatography is the process of separating a mixture and passing it in a solution or suspension or as a vapor through a specific medium, this category focuses on chromatography of acids. The second newly included category contains scientific information on acidic compounds, which are basically a group of molecules that form a usually corrosive substance that reacts with alkalis and metals.

The aim of the Repository for Information in the Natural Sciences is to provide reliable information on various areas of scientific interest in a format that can be digested easily. The information is presented in the simplest words and terms possible and that can be easily searched for within the website. The site is managed by TriScience.com which is a newly established organization targeting dissemination of scientific and related information in an understandable way.

The section Acid contains scientific information about acids, its kinds, and naming acidic substances. While there are three basic definitions for acids, the Arrhenius, the BrØnsted-Lowry, and the Lewis definitions, acids are named according to their anions, with the ionic suffix typically dropped and replaced with a new one. After inclusion of the two new categories, this section contains ten categories including Chromatography, Compounds, Diet, Enzyme, Fatty, Glucose, Lipid, Metabolism, Residues and Sequence.

The newly published category Chromatography covers the process of separating a mixture and passing it in a solution or suspension or as a vapor through a specific medium and focuses on chromatography of acids. The process of chromatography can be analytical or preparative. Analytical chromatography is normally used to measure the relative proportions of analytes in a specific mixture while preparative chromatography is usually used to separate the different components of a specific mixture. The category currently contains ca. 150 articles including one on a novel application of Onyx TM monolithic column for simultaneous determination of salicylic acid and triamcinolone acetonide by sequential injection chromatography and another covering a quantitative method for the determination of cyclopropenoid fatty acids in cottonseed, cottonseed meal, and cottonseed oil Gossypium hirsutum by high-performance liquid chromatography.

The new Acidic Compounds category contains information on this group of molecules that form a usually corrosive substance that reacts with alkalis and metals. Acidic compounds can be divided into two categories: the inorganic acids and the organic acids. Inorganic acids include mineral (hydrogen halides, halogen oxoacids, and fluorosulfuric acid, among others) acids, while organic acids includes sulfonic (ethanesulfonic, methanesulfonic, benzenesulfonic, and polystyrene sulfonic acids), carboxylic (acetic, formic, citric, gluconic, lactic, oxalic, and tartaric acids), vinylogous carboxylic (ascorbic acid and Meldrum´s acid), and the neuclic acids (deoxyribonucleic and ribonucleic acids, known as DNA and RNA). The category currently contains ca. 300 articles including one on correlation between the level of phenolic compounds and the antioxidant capacity in cooked-with-rice and vegetable soybean Glycine max varieties. Another article covers activation of fibrinolysis nattokinase induced by dipicolinic acid and related compounds

The repository groups information in the natural sciences according to interrelated sections and categories that will help readers understand the context of whatever topic is searched information on. It is composed of eleven sections which are subdivided into up to ten categories. Each unit contains a definition composed in an understandable way. Each item in these sections and categories contains up to twenty clickable tags.
