Olin College of Engineering has named Michelle R. Davis, a former vice president of public affairs and marketing at Boston Children’s Hospital, as its first chief marketing officer.
A seasoned professional known for her innovative approaches to marketing and communication for health care and other nonprofit organizations, Davis will be responsible for developing and implementing integrated marketing, communication and branding strategies at Olin, and increasing visibility among key constituencies important to the college’s strategic objectives.
“We are delighted that a communication professional of Michelle’s caliber will be joining the college,” said Olin President Richard K. Miller. “As Olin continues its ground breaking efforts to spur innovation in this country through educational reform, we need to actively market and communicate our efforts to recruit the right students, engage with the business community, fundraise and invite other thought leaders and educators to join us in transforming engineering education in America and throughout the world.”
Prior to joining Olin, Davis served for twelve years at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she advanced to vice president of public affairs and marketing. She led a successful branding, marketing and public affairs effort that played a substantial role in the hospital’s growth to a $1.3 billion enterprise ranked as the No. 1 children’s hospital in the nation. She helped the hospital gain wide recognition for its global leadership in innovation and research, grew the national reputation of the hospital and its satellite locations, and instituted highly effective digital and social media strategies.
Prior to joining Children’s, she served as director of public affairs at Tufts Health Plan in Waltham, Mass., where she built a strategic and integrated public affairs program from the ground up. She has also served as director of public affairs at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and director of marketing and community relations at Faulkner Hospital in Boston.
