Bayer CropScience Announces GRAD Internship Recipient
Auburn University student Mark Durham selected for Graduate Recruitment and Development program
Research Triangle Park, NC (PRWEB) August 29, 2012
Bayer CropScience is sending another student to the head of the class through its Graduate Recruiting and Development (GRAD) program. Mark Durham, the 2012 GRAD recipient, is a graduate student at Auburn University pursuing a degree in Plant Pathology and Entomology. Durham focuses his research on root colonization of the rhizobacterium GB126 on corn, cotton and soybeans.
“As a science- and research-based company, education is key to the future of Bayer CropScience,” says Jim Blome, president and CEO of Bayer CropScience North America. “Through our various education initiatives, Bayer CropScience works to inspire and train the next generation of scientists and agriculturalists who will further our mission to feed a hungry planet.”
Durham is the third participant in the GRAD program, which provides tuition assistance as well as a research environment for industry-relevant graduate work, such as a thesis. After successfully completing their program work and all degree requirements, students in the GRAD program are considered for placement in a full-time position with Bayer CropScience in the United States.
“Bayer CropScience is committed to helping sustain our nation’s farmers and food supply through new and innovative agriculture solutions,” said Adrian Percy, Bayer CropScience vice president of development, North America. “Through the GRAD program, students such as Mark become a part of this mission.”
GRAD program participants were selected by a team of university faculty and Bayer CropScience staff based on academic achievements, agricultural focus of studies, interest in pursuing a career in an agriculture-based research industry and willingness to commit to the work program.
For updates on the GRAD program and to be notified of open application periods, students should send an email to communications(at)bayercropscience(dot)com.
