Futures for Children “One by One” Music Video Premiere

Futures for Children´s Theme Song, “One by One,” was written by award-winning singer and songwriter, Shelley Morningsong (Northern Cheyenne), produced by Shane McConnell and performed by Shelley Morningsong and Fabian Fontanelle (Zuni/Omaha). The students in the video are from the Futures for Children Youth Leadership Team at the Oso Vista Ranch in Pine Hill, NM. Many thanks to Margaret Merrill and her staff at Oso Vista Ranch and to Futures for Children field staff Herbert Manheimer and Winona Gishal! This wonderful music video was produced, gratis, by Dave Roberts at Southwest Productions.

The Futures for Children “One by One” Music Video premiered on Friday, September 28, 2012 in honor of Roger & Camille Abelson, Rachel and Adam Albright and Jim West (past President & CEO of Futures for Children) on his retirement.

Futures for Children’s “One by One” was written by award-winning singer and songwriter, Shelley Morningsong (Northern Cheyenne), produced by Shane McConnell and performed by Shelley Morningsong and Fabian Fontanelle (Zuni/Omaha). The students in the video are from the Futures for Children Youth Leadership Team at the Oso Vista Ranch in Pine Hill, NM. Futures for Children President & CEO Teresa C. Gomez stated, “This song adds melody and lyrics to Futures for Children´s philosophy stressing the power of Native American youth in impacting their own lives and those of their people. We do this one child at a time. She added, “We are grateful to everyone who played a part in making this moving music video and it will be a great tool to increase our visibility nationwide.”

Futures for Children´s three Circle of Support includes Youth Leadership, Friendship/Mentorship and Families in Action to help bring self-sufficiency in Hopi, Navajo, Pueblo and Mescalero Apache communities in Arizona and New Mexico as well as the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. Futures for Children´s founder Dr. Richard P. Saunders´ vision lives on today — “to build communities empowered by self-reliance.”
