(PRWEB) January 06, 2013

Anahata Technologies Pty Ltd announced it will be defaulting to CentOS 6 as server side operating system on application development projects. Pablo Rodriguez, co-founder of Anahata, explains this decision: “We are very pleased with CentOS and Linux in general. CentOS is fast, secure and flexible, there is great support from the community and it allows our clients to save on upfront and ongoing operating system licensing fees”

Anahata Technologies solutions are mainly based in open source technology and the three core server side components namely: Java, GlassFish and MySQL which are widely deploy on CentOS and other Linux distributions.

The company declared it will continue to recommend Canonical´s Linux distribution Ubuntu as desktop operating system for enterprise application clients.

With this move, anahata positions itself as one of the few Perth software companies servicing small and medium businesses that deploy, use and recommend Linux for both client and server side.

About Linux

Linux came into being in 1969 and since then has evolved to reach a stage wherein it is growing in popularity with many major institutions around the world. Instrumental in its widespread acceptance is the freedom that it offers to its users. As compared to Windows, Linux users can customize any aspect that they wish to without running the risk of system failure or corruption.

About CentOS

2004 was the year when the first version of CentOS namely 2.1 was released by Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and since then there have been many versions, the latest being CentOS 6.3 that was released in 2012. An acronym for Community ENTerprise Operating System, CentOS is the Linux kernel derivative that comes free of charge. Software companies can use CentOS at no cost and get free support from the community trough forums and web sites or get commercial support from a choice of vendors.

All CentOS versions are indicated by numbers, wherein the first number is the basic Linux version and the second number is the update. Therefore, CentOS 6.3 implies that the package has been sourced from RHEL 6 and update 3.
