Dr. Joshua M. Hurwitz of Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) is participating in a physician´s panel to address the topic, “What Every Woman Should Know” on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. The doctors panel is part of a Women´s Health Initiative at the Stamford Jewish Community Center (JCC) that is open to the public and free of charge; pre-registration for lunch is required (http://www.stamfordjcc.org, 203-322-7900).

“The Stamford JCC has a very strong community and they are opening their doors to share important educational resources with women all over Fairfield County through this health initiative,” says Dr. Hurwitz, who is a long-time member of the Stamford JCC. “I want attendees to walk away with a better understanding of their reproductive health from their 20´s through their 50´s. This includes fertility topics such as when to see a fertility specialist, as well as other OB/GYN questions about menopausal transition, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and common conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).”

Along with Dr. Hurwitz, the physician´s panel includes Dr. Joseph Feuerstein, integrative specialist, and Dr. David Passaretti, plastic surgeon. Each doctor will give a short presentation related to his field and then will take questions from the audience. The Women´s Health Initiative, which is organized by the JCC Center Women, also includes health screenings, mammograms and massages. The day´s keynote speaker is Bat Sheva Marcus, Ph.D., founder and clinical director of the Medical Center for Female Sexuality in Westchester, Long Island and Manhattan.

“The JCC Center Women and our co-sponsors, Stamford chapter of Hadassah, First County Bank, and Stamford Hospital, have developed a community event that we believe has something to offer all women,” says Marni Amsellem, co-organizer and member of the JCC. “It’s a health initiative with lectures addressing a wide range of relevant topics, but also much more. We are bringing in local talent from across Fairfield and Westchester Counties to address pertinent health information as well as other hot topics in modern living. It’s a day where women can reconnect with their health knowledge and needs.”
