Government and Industry Come Together to Discuss Issues Affecting the Global Food Supply

Joan Bowman, Vice President of External Affairs at the Global Food Protection Institute (GFPI), will speak at the MCAFDO conference on Wednesday, February 27, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Springdale, Arkansas. Ms. Bowman will speak about GFPI´s International Food Protection Training Institute and its role in training food protection professionals in the 21st century. The 2-day conference program will include food safety experts from around the country, representing the public sector, industry, academia, and international organizations.

About The Training Institute
The Training Institute is a member of the Global Food Protection Institute (GFPI), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization driving the adoption of food protection policies and practices for a safer global food supply. GFPI´s mission is to improve public health and reduce mortality, morbidity and economic costs associated with foodborne illnesses.
The Training Institute is building and administering the training infrastructure for the nation´s integrated food safety system. Working with federal regulatory and public health officials, the Training Institute is establishing and overseeing the implementation of a career-spanning food protection training curriculum and courses that will increase capacity, and assure competency and equivalency throughout regulatory jurisdictions at all levels of government.
Financial support for the Training Institute is provided through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and through the generosity of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
