RSB Grants Dynamic Fuels Sustainability Certification

(PRWEB) February 25, 2013

The RSB Services Foundation, the implementing entity of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) which has developed a global sustainability standard and certification system for biofuel production, is pleased to announce that Dynamic Fuels, LLC (Dynamic Fuels) has earned the RSB sustainability certification. The RSB certification encompasses Dynamic Fuels´ Geismar, Louisiana plant, located near Baton Rouge, where it utilizes its technology to turn animal byproducts such as beef tallow and pork and chicken fat into renewable diesel.

Dynamic Fuels is a joint-venture of Tyson Foods, Inc. and Syntroleum Corporation, and is a leading renewable diesel and biojet fuel supplier currently in operation globally. Dynamic Fuels is one of the preferred suppliers for KLM and SkyNRG and produces next-generation renewable, drop-in fuels from animal fats, greases, and vegetable oils that contribute to local energy independence and significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Dynamic Fuels´ completion of RSB certification demonstrates that wastes, residues and other low value materials are ideal feedstocks for the production of sustainable biofuels.

The audit summary report is available on the RSB website, http://www.rsbservices.org. The audit was conducted by DNV Business Assurance, an RSB-accredited, world-leading certification body working with companies to assure the performance of their organizations, products, people and facilities through certification, verification, assessment and training.

“It is not easy to adhere to the world´s most rigorous sustainability criteria as a business but this demonstrates how committed Dynamic Fuels is to ensuring the protection of the environment and people as part of their business,” says Peter Ryus, CEO of RSB Services Foundation. “As one of the few commercial drop-in renewable fuels plants currently in operation in the United States, Dynamic Fuels has been able to demonstrate they are both a thought leader in sustainability, as well as a technology innovator.”

“We are very excited to complete the RSB certification that documents our dedication to producing fuel that is sustainable for both the environment and its people,” says Jeff Drake, Director of Operations for Tyson Renewable Energy. “One of our goals is to continue to increase market access and flexibility for our customers. We produce an exceptional fuel that has exceeded all of our customers´ expectations and Dynamic Fuels will continue to be the leading supplier of sustainable renewable fuels to the industry.”

“We are very pleased to be able to issue this certification proving that Dynamic Fuels operates in compliance with the RSB standard,” says Elisabet Bröms Sterner, lead auditor responsible for DNV Business Assurance RSB certification services globally. “Through our audit we were able to verify that Dynamic Fuels operates in a responsible manner in their biofuels production, meeting the sustainability requirements of the RSB standard. This is a welcome contribution in the value chain they operate in, and also helps build stakeholder trust in markets globally.”

The RSB certification system helps farmers, feedstock processors and biofuel producers prove their sustainability to the world. Certified entities demonstrate that their operations comply with ambitious yet practical safeguards, including, the protection of natural or rare ecosystems, food security, human rights to land, water and decent work conditions, and the management of water resources. With unmatched NGO support, global market compatibility across all feedstocks, practical guidance and tools for an ongoing sustainability system, RSB Services Foundation helps entities manage their risk and increase shareholder confidence in their business.
