The low blue light bulbs eliminate the blue rays that are present in ordinary white light and help people sleep better. They are available at http://www.lowbluelights.com. They were developed in 2005 at John Carroll University by a team of lighting experts in the Lighting Innovations Institute led by Dr. Richard L. Hansler. He is a veteran of 42 years of research at GE Lighting and author of “Great Sleep! Reduced Cancer!” and “Heroes of Cancer Prevention Research” available from Amazon as paperback or Kindle books.
It wasn´t until 2001 that it was discovered there are special sensors the retina of the eye that do not contribute to vision but control the internal or circadian clock. The clock controls the pineal gland that produces melatonin. These newly discovered sensors respond most strongly to blue light. Exposing the eyes to ordinary white light in the hours before bedtime prevents the pineal gland from producing melatonin. Using light bulbs that don´t produce blue light or wearing glasses that eliminate the blue rays allows the body to start producing melatonin hours before bedtime. Having plenty of melatonin present in the blood makes it easy to fall asleep and sleep is deeper and more refreshing.
Virtually all living things have circadian clocks of some sort and many produce melatonin. For diurnal mammals, melatonin tends to slow down metabolism, lower body temperature and produce sleepiness. Evidently our customer´s little dog is enjoying those effects. We have a whole new market!!!! Any dog owners out there?
You don´t have to be a dog owner to enjoy the great sleep and other health benefits of using special light bulbs or orange glasses. Check the website http://www.lowbluelights.com for light bulbs, glasses and filters for TV and computer screens including iPads and iPhones.
