Perth Software Company Anahata Announces Domain-Driven Design for Java Projects

March 6, 2013

Software Company Anahata Technologies announces it will be using domain-driven design for Java development projects.

Perth, WA (PRWEB) March 06, 2013

On Monday, 4th March 2013, Robert Nagajek, co-founder, co-director and technical lead of the Perth (Western Australia) based software company announced the company will be incorporating a domain-driven design architecture for Java projects.

Robert Nagajek announced the reasons for this choice: “Domain-driven design enables software projects to closely reflect the business domain. It keeps the heart of the system – the business processes – closely aligned to business models, terminology and processes. It promotes true object-oriented design, with more well-defined and cohesive classes that have lower coupling.

The domain model allows developers to easily make sense of the business processes being modelled, without having in-depth business process knowledge. The domain model uses true encapsulation rather than an anemic domain model which uses value objects without complex business logic. The latter can lead to procedural style programming, resulting in code that can be hard to maintain, test and understand. Domain-driven design almost forces the developer to adhere to best object-oriented programming practices, focusing on behaviour of classes and how they collaborate, rather than processing data.”

Robert Nagajek then addressed improvements in the Java platform that have encouraged domain-driven design: “The Java EE 6 platform has come a long way in improving code quality, by vastly simplifying the amount of boilerplate code required to develop applications. Previous iterations of the Java EE platform have promoted procedural programming using anemic entities. The latest Java EE iterations have features such as extended persistence contexts, CDI and JPA, all which help in creating rich domain driven applications.”
