COLO@ Increases Dark Fiber Capacity at 34 Peachtree Facility with the ADVA FSP 3000

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 14, 2013

Colocation and datacenter services company, COLO@ has selected ADVA Optical Networking´s FSP 3000 to increase capacity at their 34 Peachtree facility in downtown Atlanta.  With an already large blend of transit, COLO@ has extensive capacity at their data center.  With an eye towards meeting the demands of future growth and a desire to maintain a high level of service for existing and future customers, the decision was made to increase network capacity.

COLO@ has secured an additional dark fiber ring consisting of two pairs of fiber.  The new circuits run between the COLO@ headquarters at 34 Peachtree, and 56 Marietta (one of the most highly connected locations in the continental US).  The new fiber circuits will be delivered via Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) using newly installed ADVA FSP 3000 equipment.  These new circuits will be turned up as needed by COLO@ and their customers.  With the new ADVA FSP 3000, each fiber gets split into a wave, or channel resulting in a capacity of up to (40) 10 gbps waves per fiber pair or a mixture of 10 gbps and 1 gbps waves. This hardware and fiber ring allows COLO@ to respond to customer needs as well as increase capacity either incrementally, or in large blocks as needed.

Ryan DiRocco, CTO at COLO@ stated that “Our goal is to keep our customers connected and have enough capacity to grow and respond to our customers needs quickly and effectively.  By having exclusive access to this dark fiber ring and selecting ADVA Optical Networking equipment we can ensure that the connection needs of our customers can be met and exceeded for years to come.”

“The data center continues to be one of the most challenging environments in the network,” commented John Scherzinger, senior vice president of sales, North America, ADVA Optical Networking. “We’re continually asked how can you do more with less? How can you respond to increased capacity demands while at the same time drive down space and energy consumption? We worked closely with Total Server Solutions to ensure that we delivered a solution that answers each of these questions. Ultimately, it’s the inherent scalability of the ADVA FSP 3000 that enables us to do this.”
