PHI eManagement Solutions Develops Sustainable Energy and Backup Power Options for Commercial and Government Applications

PHI eManagement Solutions has bundled together a robust package to incorporate state of the art solar photovoltaic (PV), micro-turbines, batteries and other technology to support various backup power options for commercial and government applications.

Gill Colon Jr., Senior Vice President and director of PHI´s energy division, discussed with his partners the cost of a power failure to a business, school, or other critical facility. “How much does it cost to mitigate a total power failure?” he asked. Colon explained that generators can provide backup power for all or part of a facility but they do not provide a lasting benefit beyond backup power. “The size and cost of a generator needed to power an entire building, especially a large distribution warehouse or manufacturing facility, is huge, and almost cost prohibitive. If a company can afford to purchase such a large generator, there is no return on investment, only depreciation. PHI can do much better than that,” he said.

Colon explained that PHI´s goal is to offer clients a comprehensive program to develop on-site power generation which significantly mitigates risk associated with power outages, improves power quality and reduces the facility's peak load. “We are technology neutral and strive to provide a system and financial solution that fits the needs and expectations of our clients while increasing the facility's energy autonomy and reducing energy expenses.”

Colon said they first meet with a prospective client and determine what their energy goals are. Then PHI meets with the engineering team to come up with options that meet the client´s goals. He said that PHI can integrate multiple technologies to meet those goals. For example, solar panels can be integrated with micro-turbines or generators to reduce the overall cost of energy while at the same time providing the backup power solution.

According to Colon, PHI´s energy options are not limited to just backup power. Colon said that they can also develop pure solar systems, geothermal systems, micro-turbine systems, or systems that combine multiple technologies. He added that there are also multiple financing options available to include power purchase agreements and leases. “The bottom line”, he said, “is that whether you need a full backup power solution or are just looking to integrate sustainable energy and reduce costs, PHI has a solution for you.”

The PHI team is composed primarily of military veterans with over 90 years of combined service. Each member of the team has proven themselves through combat command and has extensive experience in disaster response and planning.
