Software Company Anahata To Deploy Ubuntu 13.04 for Java Development

May 9, 2013

Software Company Anahata Technologies announces it will be making Ubuntu 13.04 available to Java developers who wish to upgrade.

Perth, Western Australia (PRWEB) May 09, 2013

On Thursday 9th of May, 2013, Pablo Rodriguez Pina, founder and director of the Perth (Western Australia) based software company welcomed the 13.04 release of Ubuntu.

In the words of Pablo Rodriguez: “We are very happy to see Unity becoming more mature and we are very enthusiastic about the availability of Ubuntu on tablet devices. As Java developers, we´d like our software to run in as many platforms as possible and if Canonical can produce a lightweight version of Ubuntu which can run the Java Runtime Environment in tablet devices our customer will be offered the possibility of running our desktop based enterprise applications on tablets.”

Canonical, which has been recently making an effort to improve the speed and reduce the resource usage of the Unity interface, sees 13.04 as the last stepping stone before a unified user interface (hence the Unity code name) for desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile devices.

Pablo Rodriguez Pina, praised Canonical´s trajectory: “Canonical seems to be moving in the right direction, as a Ubuntu User, I am very pleased with the combination of stability, usability and performance of the operating system. Recent efforts to improve Unity, which are now available on the 13.04 release make the operating system a step closer to a Mac-like interface. Strategy wise, I have seen Canonical has struck a deal with the Chinese government to produce a national linux based Os. If this fructified, the global OS market share could be severely impacted, and Microsoft seems to be the first candidate to lose it´s share. In my opinion, Canonical´s deal together with the increasing popularity of Android OS and the availability of it on ARM based computers could fire off the end of a long Microsoft Windows dominance of the desktop OS market. If home users started moving towards linux as a cost reduction measure, it would be a matter of time until linux based OSs start penetrating the enterprise space.

Anahata, which adopted JavaFX as enterprise desktop technology is looking forward to test JavaFX touch functionality on tablet devices. If Canonical´s effort is successful, the 13.10 Ubuntu release will allow running a Ubuntu distribution using the now familiar Unity interface on ARM powered tablet devices.
