June 2, 2013

OSHA Update course for outreach trainers prepares students with latest information to maintain general industry trainer status.

Savannah, GA (PRWEB) June 02, 2013

Industrial job sites can be dangerous because of large machinery, tools and other factors that can lead workers to serious injuries. Preparation, education and training can help employers and employees avoid serious on-the-job safety hazards while learning the latest occupational safety and health standards. Georgia Tech Professional Education will offer an Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers course July 16-18, 2013 at Georgia Tech-Savannah to share important OSHA standards that impact many industries.

Participants in the OSHA Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers (OTI 503) course will become familiar with recent changes to OSHA standards for the most common hazards and violations in order to maintain their OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer status. This course is for public- and private-sector personnel who have completed the OTI 501 Trainer course. General industry voluntary compliance outreach trainers must take this course every four years. If your card has expired, you must retake the OTI 501 course and the exam.

Focus areas in the OTI 503 course include: application of recently adopted or revised OSHA general industry safety and health standards, policies, and procedures; using recent changes in OSHA standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program; identifying common violations of OSHA standards and propose abatement actions; and recent developments in abatement procedures for selected safety hazards. Participants are required to have completed the OTI 501 course. For more information or to register for the course, visit: http://www.gtpe.gatech.edu/oti503.
