The Digital Pathology Association (DPA), a non-profit organization that facilitates education and awareness of digital pathology applications, is now offering complimentary membership and discounted registration to their annual conference, Pathology Visions, to all residents, fellows and PhD students interested in digital pathology.

To continue to promote education and the latest tools in the digital pathology field, the DPA is offering individuals free membership to the DPA during their residency and fellowship. Resident and fellow members will receive access to past Pathology Visions recordings, access to the DPA Member Community, discounted registration to Pathology Visions 2013 and many other benefits. Pathology Visions 2013, the DPA’s annual conference, is being held September 29 – October 1, 2013 at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. This year, pathology residents and fellows have two opportunities to attend Pathology Visions for free.

The first opportunity to attend Pathology Visions at no charge is through poster presentations. The DPA Program Committee is now accepting abstracts for poster presentations at Pathology Visions 2013. Residents can submit a poster presentation abstract for review until August 1, 2013. If their poster presentation is chosen, their registration to Pathology Visions 2013 will be complimentary. Presented posters at Pathology Visions will be displayed for two days and discussed between presenters and meeting attendees. The posters will also be judged by appointed experts in five categories. Awards will be handed out to the winner of each category at Pathology Visions and a cash prize will be given to the winner of the Resident category. Click here to submit a poster presentation abstract now.

The second opportunity is through applying for the resident travel awards. The DPA is making available up to 4 conference travel awards ($2,000 value each) for pathology residents and residents doing fellowships to attend Pathology Visions 2013. The travel award funding is intended to defray costs of registration and travel expenses. Recipients will be chosen based on their understanding of the impact of digital pathology and whole slide imaging on the specialty of pathology, merit of application and the value of the award to the applicant. Applications are due July 1, 2013. To learn more about the travel awards and to apply today, click here.

This year the DPA is also offering a discounted Pathology Visions registration to residents. The resident registration fee is $100. Pathology Visions is a great place to learn about the real world, practical applications in the ever-evolving field of digital pathology, while also getting a chance to network with industry leaders.
