August 1, 2013

Saturday, September 21st, 2013 @ SugarHouse Casino

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) August 01, 2013

The Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter of the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) proudly presents the 18th Annual Sippin’ by the River on Saturday, September 21st, rain or shine, from 1pm-5pm. After taking a short hiatus from the Philadelphia side of the Delaware waterfront, the Sippin’ by the River team is pleased to announce this year’s location and event sponsor: SugarHouse Casino!

Marilyn Russell of 95.7 BEN-FM is back again and will be your hostess for the afternoon as we officially end the summer season with live music from Firewaters band. Enjoy the views of the river while you sip on samples of regionally-sourced wines, craft and specialty beers, as well as plenty of non-alcoholic beverages. Long-time CCFA supporter, Dietz & Watson, will be on-site grilling up some tasty treats with their signature spreads for you to purchase alongside a few local food truck favorites. Think of yourself as a cigar aficionado? Then you won’t miss out on John Hay Cigars specialty area where they will feature their cigars that are grown and handmade in Pennsylvania!

Tickets for the 18th Annual Sippin’ by the River are $45 per person and include: entrance to event, unlimited samples of beer, wine, spirits, live music, entertainment, $15 in free slot play to SugarHouse, free shuttle to/from SugarHouse (The SugarHouse Express), free parking, and much more! Everyone that attends will also get a $20 driving credit from Uber! Must be 21+ to attend event.

Proceeds from Sippin' by the River benefit research, education, and support programs for people suffering from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis — chronic digestive disorders of the small and large intestines collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Currently, IBD affects an estimated 1.4 million Americans.

About Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. Crohn's disease may attack anywhere from the mouth to the anus, while ulcerative colitis inflames only the large intestine (colon). Symptoms may include abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, rectal bleeding, fever and weight loss. Many patients require hospitalization and surgery. These illnesses can cause severe complications, including colon cancer in patients with long-term disease. Some 1.4 million American adults and children suffer from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, with as many as 150,000 under the age of 18. Most people develop the diseases between the ages of 15 and 35.

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is a voluntary, non-profit national organization, seeks to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
