Mercy College to Host Financial Literacy Event to Empower Latino Families

Mercy College’s School of Business and School of Education are hosting a financial literacy event to empower Latino families with financial knowledge. Bloomberg Journalist Yamila Constantino will be the key note speaker. The goal is to provide practical tips that will help attendees feel confident when making financial decisions. Topics covered at the event include; personal financial planning strategies and college planning.

Mercy College School of Education Dean, Alfred Posamentier, said: “Through the Parents Center, the School of Education is committed to providing assistance of all kinds to make parents a strong supporter of their children’s education – financial literacy is just one aspect of this support.”

Mercy College School of Business Dean, Ed Weis, said: "One of the critical qualities in predicting whether a young person will become successful is their time horizon."

Constantino, who is a pioneer of Latino financial education, said: "As an advocate of financial education for Latinos, I'm excited that Mercy College recognizes the importance of providing financial literacy to our community. I’m extremely honored to speak at the event."

The event, which is in partnership with The National Financial Educators Council, is being funded by a three year grant from the NY Stock Exchange Euronext Foundation.
