Athletic Trainers Kick Off National Athletic Training Month At The Today Show Plaza On February 28th

Athletic trainers and athletic training students will be at the Today Show plaza on the morning of Friday, February 28th to celebrate the launch of the 14th annual National Athletic Training Month. This year’s theme is: “We’ve Got Your Back.”

ATHLETIC TRAINERS KICK OFF NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINING MONTH AT THE TODAY SHOW PLAZA ON FEBRUARY 28TH

The theme of 2014 National Athletic Training Month is “We’ve Got Your Back”

WHO:

Over 200 athletic trainers and athletic training students from 10 athletic training programs throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania & Delaware (District 2 of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association)

WHAT:

Athletic trainers and athletic training students will be at The Today Show plaza on the morning of Friday, February 28th to celebrate the launch of the 14th annual National Athletic Training Month. This year’s theme is: “We’ve Got Your Back.” Athletic trainers will be holding signs bearing statements about the profession of athletic training including: “Athletic Trainers are Experts, Athletic Trainers Save Lives, Not All Athletes Wear Jerseys, Athletic Trainers Take Responsibility and Lower Risk”.

WHEN:

Friday, February 28 – 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

WHERE:

The Today Show Plaza at NBC Studios, Rockefeller Center, New York, New York

WHY:

With the increasing awareness of sports related injuries including but not limited to concussions, sudden death and heat related illness, it is important to recognize that having an athletic trainer at all sporting events is essential in saving the lives of athletes. Athletic trainers make valuable contributions to the health and safety of athletes across the nation. By appearing at The Today Show Plaza we hope to familiarize the general public with our skills as health care experts throughout the U.S.

The National Athletic Trainers’ Association will host the 5th Youth Sports Safety Summit in Washington, DC on Monday, March 10. The Summit is convened by NATA and supported by the Youth Sports Safety Alliance comprising 130 sport and health organizations committed to keeping young athletes safe.
