PeopleCube Launches Green Initiative to Support Environmental Conservation Efforts

PeopleCube, the leader in on-demand calendaring, resource and event management solutions, today announced at the 2007 EDUCAUSE annual conference that it has launched a new green initiative designed to help promote environmental awareness and conservation. This initiative emphasizes the use of resource scheduling technology to help customers improve their return on investment while preserving the environment through reduced energy consumption, carbon emissions and paper use. Further, PeopleCube has implemented a corporate environmental charter that outlines the company's current conservation efforts as well as its commitment to environmental responsibility.
"We, as a company and as individuals, have a responsibility to be more environmentally responsible and to make sure we do our part to help protect our natural resources," said John T. Anderson, president and CEO of PeopleCube. "As such, we have implemented a corporate green strategy that ensures we are doing what we can to be more eco-friendly. But we also wanted to help others in their environmental conservation efforts. As a result, we have identified several ways customers can leverage our solutions to help them launch their own green initiative going forward."
PeopleCube's resource management solutions, Resource Scheduler and Meeting Room Scheduler, help organizations increase productivity and reduce costs by simplifying the scheduling and utilization of conference rooms, equipment, assets and other shared resources. In addition, these solutions also can help organizations implement a green strategy by empowering them to decrease energy consumption, eliminate excess waste, enable telecommuting, and minimize travel. This combination of cost reductions and environmental responsibility supports what many feel is becoming a top priority for companies. According to research conducted by Johnson Controls of North America business leaders, 52% say cost savings is their main driver for investing in energy efficient measures, 35% say cost savings and environmental responsibility are equal motivators, while 13% report environmental concern is the greater motivator.
Specific environmental conservation functionality within the PeopleCube resource management product suite includes:
Room Displays and Reservation Kiosks to Support Office Hoteling: Reserve shared workspace on-site to reduce real estate costs, carbon emissions and paper use by facilitating a telecommuting work environment.
Videoconferencing Integration: Simplify the scheduling of videoconferencing equipment and supporting resources to reduce carbon deposits resulting from travel to and from meeting sites.
HVAC System Integration: Save on energy costs and consumption by integrating resource scheduling with HVAC systems to automatically adjust heating/cooling of a room, floor or building based on when it is reserved.
Product Configuration: Tailor Resource Scheduler to meet unique "green" needs such as ordering locally-grown and/or organic produce.
Utilization Reports: Run resource utilization reports to help remove, reuse, or repurpose underutilized spaces; eliminate unnecessary heating/cooling; and limit equipment purchases based on past and projected usage trends.
PeopleCube has also enhanced its corporate environmental stewardship as part of its new green initiative. Supporting Gartner's prediction that more than fifty percent of global technology organizations will declare an environmental imperative by the year 2010, this policy outlines PeopleCube's commitment to the environment and the ways in which it will be implemented going forward.
